OLO® Anti-fog – anti-fog eyeglass lenses

Anti-fog lens structure

OLO® Anti-fog nanocoating is the first physical coating available in the Nordic countries that permanently and effectively prevents the fogging of eyeglasses! The lenses, which are well suited to northern conditions, prevent fogging and make everyday life easier, whether at work, in sports or outdoors. The anti-fog coating is also particularly suitable for people who wear face shields at work.

Benefits

  • Effective anti-fogging of glass
  • Optically neutral – does not degrade the optical properties of the lens
  • Physical and durable coating: the coating is directly on the lens material.
  • Easy to use: just activate after washing the glasses
  • No need for separate liquids
  • OLO® Frostproofs are well suited for sports, outdoor activities and work where you move between different warm spaces
  • OLO® Anti-fog is also suitable for work and situations where a mask is used
  • Made in Finland

The video shows normal hard-coated lenses on the left and OLO Lenses® on the right. Water vapour rises from underneath the lenses directly onto the lenses.

Users’ experiences

“The field of vision at the top of the lens remained clear throughout the hour-long outdoor walk and I didn’t need to dry the lens of droplets to see ahead. The lenses did not fog up during the whole trip.”- Minna, Turku

“I was one of the first to test Piiloset’s frost-free OLOlins and just wow! The experience has been nothing but a plus. The world has become a much clearer place, and I don’t mind wearing a mask anymore.” – Leevi, Raisio

“I just got these lenses for my own use , absolutely great, didn’t fog up when I went with the mask on the bus, to the shop or wherever I had to go! Highly recommended!” – Tero, Helsinki

How does an anti-fog coating work?

Previous anti-fog coatings have required separate liquids to achieve anti-fog properties.OLO® Anti-fog is based on a nanocoating of the lenses. The coating induces a high surface energy on the lens surface, which breaks down water molecules into a transparent water film. This prevents vision-obstructing fogging and allows clear vision through the lenses even in challenging conditions.

Themicroscopic nanocoating of frost-freeOLOlins® is only about 5 nanometres thick. By comparison, human hair is about 100,000 nanometres in diameter and a human blood cell is about 7,000-8,000 nanometres in diameter.

On the left, a normal hard coating. On the right,OLO® Anti-fog breaks down large water molecules into a transparent film.

Availability at

OLO® Anti-fog coating is available for allOLOlinse® ( except OLO®basic ).OLO® Anti-fog is always hard coated.
Anti-fog coating is also available for polarised and blue light protected lenses.

Treatment of anti-fog coatings

The function of the frost-free surface is enhanced by an activation line. The use of the cloth protects the coating from contaminants and soiling. After treatment with activation cloth, the lens surface is hydrophobic, i.e. water-repellent.
