Choosing a thinning
We offer lenses without refraction (1.5 refractive index), with single refraction (1.6 refractive index and 100% UV protection) and double refraction (1.67 refractive index and 100% UV protection).
Recommendations
- For lenses with low powers (-2.0 - 4.5 and +2.0 - +4.0) we recommend a thinned (refractive index 1.6) or unthinned lens.
- Double gain is recommended for intensities (-4.0 - 7.0 or +3.5 - +5.5)
In addition to being lighter and thinner, double and triple thinned lenses offer 100% UV protection. However, a double-thinned lens is not optically superior to a single-thinned lens. We therefore recommend that you choose a thinner lens according to your strengths.
